Want to help shape the GÉANT Community Programme? The GÉANT Community Committee (GCC) is looking for a Trust & Identity representative, and applications are now open until 16 June 2026. 🔹 What does the GCC do? The GCC acts as the link between the GÉANT Community Programme and the General Assembly, helping raise challenges from the community and ensuring all relevant voices are heard. As a member, you'll help guide and strengthen a grassroots initiative built by experts from #NRENs, research institutions and user organisations across Europe. 🔹 Who can apply? Active members of the Trust & Identity community, including REFEDS, AARC, FIM4R, or the T&I work package of GN5-2. This is your opportunity to contribute at the community governance level. 🔗 Read more and apply today: https://lnkd.in/ebCUqXKj

✨ SIG-AI Spring Meeting Recap ✨ This spring in Madrid, RedIRIS hosted the SIG-AI for #NRENs meeting, bringing together 73 participants to explore Agentic #AI and AI for Networking. The key takeaway? Our community is ready to move from experimentation to operation in different areas using AI. Here are a few highlights: 🔹 Agentic AI and AIOps: exploring how multi-agent architectures can assist specialised workflows for network automation and troubleshooting. 🔹 AI systems and tools: the utility of LLM-based systems and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) to build assistants that support NREN processes and services. 🔹 Community engagement and capacity building: how NRENs are engaging with AI through new services, infrastructures and activities, and scaling technical expertise through innovative models like the GÉANT Network eAcademy. 👏 A big thank you to participants for engaging conversations and sessions. Thank you also to our hosts at RedIRIS! 🔗 Read the full recap by Daniela Brauner and Leonie Schäfer: https://lnkd.in/ei4WGFBN DFN-Verein, GARR, CESNET, SURF, Lanka Education And Research Network (LEARN), Poznańskie Centrum Superkomputerowo-Sieciowe, RENATER

After three years, the SUBMERSE project has come to a close. The technology works. Now the question is: How do we scale it? Last month in Copenhagen, the SUBMERSE project community gathered to share what we've built over the past three years: working demonstrations across sites in Norway, Portugal, Greece, the Netherlands and Italy showing that submarine fibre-optic cables can do more than carry data. They can become permanent sensing infrastructure for seismology, oceanography, and marine biology. The final day brought our CEO Lise Fuhr together with leaders from major European research infrastructures (EMSO ERIC, European Plate Observing System, LifeWatch ERIC) for a panel to discuss the question: How do we move from proof of concept to an integrated, pan-European capability? The consensus was clear. Resilient infrastructure isn't built in silos. It's built through collaboration, with organisations combining their unique expertise to deliver something greater than any one of us could achieve alone. GÉANT was proud to be part of this 25-partner consortium project. Congratulations to the entire consortium for all the achievements 👏 We look forward to being part of what comes next.

GÉANT selected as candidate Node in the EOSC Federation 🎉 This is a significant milestone for GÉANT, our #NREN members, and the #Research & #Education community we serve. Joining as one of the pan-European e-infrastructure Nodes alongside EGI Foundation and the Scholarly Commons, GÉANT will help scale up Europe's open science ecosystem by connecting national and thematic efforts into a truly interoperable European infrastructure. This candidacy builds on our contribution to the delivery of the EOSC EU Node, where GÉANT provides the Authentication and Authorisation Infrastructure (AAI) layer for the EOSC Federation. What does this candidacy mean? 🔹 GÉANT brings expertise in network connectivity, identity and security to help underpin the Federation with the capabilities researchers rely on: trusted and seamless access, secure data exchange and high-performance connectivity. 🔹 The GÉANT Node can act as a gateway for NRENs that don't yet participate in the EOSC Federation, either by onboarding their services directly or by redirecting requests for resources on demand. 🔹 Joining the EOSC Federation and enabling a common AAI infrastructure for Research and Education in Europe marks another step forward in advancing the European Research Area. GÉANT’s selection highlights the essential role of pan-European e-infrastructures in linking national and thematic initiatives, and underlines our continued commitment to enabling an open, collaborative and data-driven research landscape in Europe. 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/eXbmaMCu
