What is it?
KindredMind is an AI solution that answers dementia calls with the caregiver’s cloned voice, carefully navigating separation anxiety and giving the person with dementia maximum support when they need it. The AI voice companion is based on simulated presence therapy and the Alzheimer Society of Canada’s guidelines. The solution works around the clock, can be contacted from a standard phone, and resolves 90% of calls without caregiver intervention. The caregiver prepares KindredMind by building its knowledge base of family history, daily routine, recurring questions, and conversation guidelines. This data is not used to train AI models.
How It Works
KindredMind first build a clone of your or your caregiver’s voice, which is done through short interview sessions. If you are not satisfied with the AI voice clone, you can always adjust it further down the line in the Voice tab in your dashboard. The interview sessions, besides building the voice clone, also help to provide KindredMind with information about your loved one. Recurring worries, favourite memories, daily routines, and frequent questions are all carefully catalogued but never shared outside of the AI solution.
Once the knowledge base and the AI voice are ready, you simply enter a phone number that KindredMind gives you specifically for your case into your loved one’s phone. When they call it, they hear your voice, your warmth, and the things that you would say to calm them down. This helps them in their time of need, when you otherwise would not be able to answer the phone, such as late at night or during important meetings.
All conversations that occur between the AI and the person with dementia are summarised for your viewing. But this does not mean that KindredMind AI replaces you or another caregiver. The AI steps back the moment that you step in, as alerts are always sent to your phone. You have full control and can see how your loved one is doing with monthly insights into their mood, recurring topics, language usage, and more, thanks to KindredMind.
The solution is even mindful of potential downtime. If the AI fails mid-call, or the server is down, or some other tech issue occurs, the call gets immediately routed to your phone. No dead ends and no silent failures.

Strong Ventures Inc., the company behind KindredMind,s was founded in Toronto by Kirstin Thomas, a dementia family caregiver. What gives KindredMind added weight is that the founder’s mother lives with frontotemporal dementia in a care facility in Ontario. The AI solution was, therefore, built with personal experience and care in mind.
