Gameplay[]
- The sights for the GP-25 include iron sights only.
- The iron sight allows the user to zero the grenade launcher for different ranges (from 50-500m).
- The GP-25 has a Kalashnikov-like sight on the left of it, the old design makes it a tad harder to adjust for drop for newer players, although drop usually is insignificant, thus you should aim just at the top of where you want to hit.
- The GP-25 iron sights include an elevation adjustment scale for indirect fire, called 200-300m High. In this mode, your character will hold the rifle in a mortar-like position and lob the grenade in a high-angle, plunging arc. This is useful for hitting the targets on the reverse slope. This function is accessible by the ranging menu by pressing X
- Grenade launchers have a smaller base damage radius than hand grenades, meaning anyone near the point of impact will die, and those further away will be damaged, possibly causing them to bleed.
- Minimum arming range for the GP-25 is 10 meters.
- If a player does attempt to fire the GP-25 within close proximity, the round will not explode.
- The GP-25 40mm Fragmentation shares its damage and ballistic performance with QLG10 35mm High Explosive Fragmentation.
- Unlike the NATO 40mm Low-Velocity Grenade, commonly found on BLUEFOR weapons, the GP-25 40mm Fragmentation cannot penetrate any armor.
- The GP-25 has a slightly worse accuracy at 40MOA.
History[]
The GP-25 is an under-barrel single-shot grenade launcher for the Kalashnikov rifle series. It was developed by the Sporting and Hunting Arms Central Design and Research Bureau (TsKIB SOO) of the Soviet Union between 1966 and 1978. The GP-25 was later adopted by the Soviet Army in 1978 and saw its first action in the Soviet-Afghan War in 1984. It saw continued usage by the Russian and Eastern European militaries as the standard under-barrel grenade launcher after the Soviet Army dissolved. The GP-25 fires a 40 mm explosive round, which is highly effective against infantry targets. The GP-25 uses the World War II-era German High-Low system to keep recoil forces low without a recoilless weapon back blast.
