Concept: GPD Duo Nano (Win Max 2–derived dual-screen mini laptop)
Building on the dual-screen concept shown in the image shared by Mr. YYang on the GPD Discord on 24/12/2025, I’d love to see this idea refined into a Win Max 2–style, laptop-first design rather than a handheld-first one.
The GPD Duo Nano would open like a normal clamshell, revealing two identical ~8-inch bezel-less OLED displays stacked vertically, similar to the concept shown in that image. The top screen would be the primary workspace or game display, while the lower screen would be perfect for terminals, documentation, timelines, debug tools, or streaming workflows (chat, OBS controls, performance stats). For gaming, this layout is especially compelling for emulation (DS/3DS-style dual screens) and game streaming, where you can keep chat or tools visible without covering gameplay.
The keyboard base would follow the GPD Win Max 2 layout exactly. Closest to the hinge is a controller row with integrated analog sticks and buttons positioned near the screen, preserving the Win Max 2’s excellent ergonomics. Both sticks could be hidden under magnetic metal covers, allowing the device to instantly switch from a gaming-focused layout to a clean, professional workstation look. A central pointing device (trackpad or trackpoint-style nub) makes it practical for development and desktop use.
Below that sits a full-width backlit keyboard, large enough for real typing. This is key: the device should feel like a real mini laptop first, not a handheld console with a keyboard added as an afterthought.
From an engineering perspective, this form factor also has real advantages. A wider, laptop-style chassis enables better cooling (larger heat pipes, dual fans, more stable sustained performance) and better battery life, especially when paired with OLED displays and smart power management (e.g. running one screen dimmed or off during development or emulation). Combined with AMD Ryzen AI Max+–class APUs, standard NVMe storage (Win Max 2–style balance, no proprietary SSDs), USB-C charging, and strong Linux support, this could be a genuinely long-lived, enthusiast-grade device.
Overall, this would feel like a carefully engineered evolution of the Win Max 2, inspired by the dual-screen direction teased in Mr. YYang’s Discord post, but refined for developers, power users, and gamers who actually multitask.
TL;DR: Inspired by Mr. YYang’s dual-screen image on the GPD Discord (24/12/2025): a Win Max 2–style mini laptop with two identical stacked 8″ OLED screens, real keyboard, and hidden gaming controls. Ideal for engineering, emulation, and streaming (game on one screen, chat/tools on the other), with strong potential for better cooling, sustained performance, and battery life thanks to a laptop-first chassis.
This bug seems to be fixed by this PR which I used with Claude as part of my ongoing experiments with LLMs, which seems to have fixed it for me.
It seems to be related to the existing code of the launcher, which is very messy.
Thank you for your kind words!

You may want to see my comment here, but work is ongoing.
The launcher is currently very messy in terms of the codebase, and I'm planning to deprecate it.
I agree the code is spaghetti. I'm one of the main devs of wemod-launcher, and the eventual plan is to replace it with a pluggable launcher, called DeckCheatz. I haven't yet worked out the specifics, but have a few ideas. I am setting up a Discord server.
Wand have been supportive in this effort, and we hope to have a good collaboration.
The wemod-launcher I am currently working to get Wand working on, and redesigning the pre-built prefixes to use BuildStream as a build integration tool.
If you want to help out, please contact me on Discord on the Wand server - you'll see me there.
EDIT: Just to clarify, there's no official partnership between DeckCheatz (i.e, the GitHub organisation) and Wand. This is more of a best-effort basis, and there is no association in terms of support from Wand, nor should people go to Wand server for help with DeckCheatz/wand-launcher and ask the Wand team there.
u/sudheer2015 - I'm working in my spare time on this, based on reverse engineering the binaries from VITURE's SDKs. Ideally I want it to be open.
VITURE sometimes communicate with me, sometimes not. At the moment, it's no communication.
