If you look at renewal costs look at all included services. I've noticed on some hosts the renewal price of the hosting plan might not change, but the SSL was only free for the first year and was £90 the second year.

Double benefit for the host, they claim no increase in hosting plan cost, and because the SSL is a third party product (from globalsign or whoever) it's excluded from any money back guarantee. Very sneaky

the article says the domains been active 27 years, I'd wager it was registered with a different company that GoDaddy bought. if they've only got domain registration with them, there probably wasn't much incentive to move as would have seemed low risk.
