My guess is that you're using the most recent Raspbian OS, Bookworm? AllSky isn't ready for it yet (https://github.com/thomasjacquin/allsky/issues/3012)

Thank you!

OAG on a refractor

Hey folks!

I'm looking at buying a Stellarvue SVX102-T, but I'm curious about off axis guiding with the field flattener. Is there a suggested configuration that might work?

I have a combined filterwheel/camera ASI1600GT which I believe has 26.5mm flange focal distance. I also currently have the Celestron OAG (I know...) which consumes about ~67mm.

Is there any way to make this work -- would I need a thinner OAG? Or am I crazy and I should just get a separate guide scope?!

Thanks so much for your help!

Thank you!

I'm scared to add up the actual dollar amounts! I did a rough estimate and I think the major components of the rig add up to about $5900 CAD. I didn't spend that all at once of course. I've added necessary (?!) bits and components over the last several years.

What refractor did you buy? I'm curious how you find it, especially since it sounds like you're coming from an SCT?

I released the clutch on the RA axis just in time! Gave me the extra few seconds I needed to power down the mount and feel sorry for myself :)

I think I'd get an APO Refractor now that I know I like imaging deep sky objects more than planets or the moon. I find the EdgeHD really struggles to find crisp focus, and its focal length is far too long.
