WordPress 7.0 was originally planned for release on Contributor Day at WordCamp Asia 2026 in Mumbai. However, the release has been slightly postponed to give the team additional time to fine-tune advanced features like real-time collaboration and to ensure the release meets high standards of stability and quality.

To keep the momentum alive, the event will now feature WordPress Release Panel Discussions and an Open Floor, giving contributors and attendees a chance to dive into what’s coming, share feedback, and engage directly with the people shaping the release.
WordPress 7.0 will reflects months of collective effort from contributors around the world. Every release is made possible by the dedication, team work, and care of several hundred individuals. Contributor Day is a final opportunity to collaborate and celebrate every contribution in new and meaningful ways.
Attendees at Contributor Day events represent diverse skillsets, backgrounds, and experience levels. Releasing a major version of WordPress during the event presents a ton of unique and engaging programming opportunities that we can’t wait for you to participate in.
