    Hello,

I have about 50 TablePress tables that I need to restructure – I want to convert them from columns to rows layout.

    Current table structure:

    • Each topic is a COLUMN
    • Data is in ROWS

    What I want:

    • Each topic should be a ROW
    • Always 2 COLUMNS: “Topic” | “Content”

    Example:

    CURRENT STRUCTURE:

    Header | Topic 1 | Topic 2 | Topic 3
    -------|---------|---------|---------
    Row 1 | Data 1 | Data 2 | Data 3

    WHAT I WANT:

    Topic | Content
    --------|---------
    Topic 1 | Data 1
    Topic 2 | Data 2
    Topic 3 | Data 3

    My questions:

    1. Does TablePress Pro “Flip Mode” do this? (Transpose columns to rows)
    2. Is there a way to restructure 50 tables at once, or do I need to do it manually for each table?
    3. What’s the best way to convert my current table structure to the new format?
    4. Should I export to Excel, transpose there, and import back? (If yes, how to handle Hebrew text encoding?)

    Technical details:

    • WordPress 6.9 with Elementor Pro
    • TablePress 3.2.5
    • Tables contain Hebrew text
    • I have about 50 tables that all need this same change

    Thank you for your help!

    Hi,

    Thanks for your question!

Yes, the “Flip” mode (see https://tablepress.org/modules/responsive-tables/#flip-mode) and also the “Stack” (see https://tablepress.org/modules/responsive-tables/#stack-mode, but with some easy small CSS adjustments) could be a good choice for changing the display structure here.

Note that these would however “only” change the layout on the frontend, where the table is shown/embedded! On the “Edit” screen, the table layout would still be the original structure!

If you would like to change the layout everywhere, including on the “Edit” screen, your best chance would indeed be doing this externally, e.g. in Excel. Unfortunately, I’m not too proficient with the specifics of that, but you can probably find instructions online.

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

Hello, The plugin that i use is already updated to version 3.2.7. Since then I have a problems with the column sizes. When I upload excel file the columns are separated with proportional sizes. When I drag and move the size in the admin panel, the changes are not visible in the frontend, like they are not saved! It makes the table to look bad. Colums with 2 digits takes space like the colums with 20 digits! How could I fix this?

    Thank you in advanced!

    Hi @appetkova,

Changing the column widths on the “Edit” screen only influences that screen — not the frontend tables! You will likely need to use the approach from the FAQ at https://tablepress.org/faq/column-widths/

Can you please send me a link to the page with the table where this problem happens, so that I can take a direct look? Thanks!

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

    Hello,
Thank you for your fast reply. Yes, here is a link of one of the page:
https://bfla.org/2026-men-indoor/ I created this page after the update.

And here is one old page ( before the update ):

    Hi @appetkova,

Ah, thanks for that! In your case, the cause for the issue is the “Visitor features”: On the new table, please uncheck the “Enable visitor features” checkbox in the “Table Features for Site Visitors” checkbox and the column widths should already be more consistent 🙂

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
