Error 503 is a server-side error. It is usually caused by hosting services that cannot be reached correctly. WordPress has nothing to do with this and cannot influence it. If it occurs again, please contact your host’s support team.

Not necessarily a Server Issue. Sometimes, WordPress can go temporarily offline during maintenance. Also, some fault plugin or theme can create such issues.
Other obvious reason can be your site experiencing a traffic spike. Check out the logs to know if that’s the case.
