National average price of E85 in August was $3.08 , 16.9% less than unleaded which was selling at $3.71. The Price of E85 dropped 20 cents from July and Gasoline fell 17 cents. One of the best reported prices for E85 was $2.49 at the E85 Get N Go Station in Sioux Falls ,SD August Prices are available for viewing in our E85 Price Archives(allow 15 sec for data to load) Oil and Corn prices continue falling (December Corn- $5.85 BU)so we can expect to see falling prices for E85 as we enter into Fall and Winter.

There were 11 States that were selling E85 15-20% less than unleaded and 6 States with price spreads of at least 20% including Colorado - 23.5 % , Iowa - 22.4% , Massachusetts - 24% , New York - 23.3 % ,South Dakota- 20.8% and Wisconsin- 22 %
Midwest E85
State Price spread averages in the Midwest were generally in the 15-20% less
than unleaded range. Iowa led the the Midwest with a Price Spread of 22.4%. The Council Bluffs area was extremely strong with Lake Side Ampride , Phillips 66 and Madison Ampride with reported prices spreads in the 25-28% less than unleaded range with E85 Prices $2.49 to $2.65 . The Kum N Go Station in Ames was also right there with a 27% price spread on August 13th.
South Dakota came in with a reported price spread of 20.8% with a best reported E85 price of $2.47 at the Get n Go Station in Sioux Falls on the 15th of August.
Price Spreads were strong across the Midwest, South Dakota-20.8%, Iowa-22.4%, Wisconsin-22%, Indiana-17.6 %, Minnesota-18.4%, Kansas-17.4%, North Dakota-17.3% , Ohio 14.2%, Oklahoma 13.4%- .
West E85
Colorado continues it's impressive ability at delivering E85 to consumers at the best price spreads in the Country. While the Average price spread was 23.5% the Western Convenience Station stores in Aurora, Brighton, Castle Rock , Colorado Springs, Denver , Grand Junction Fort Collins ..City after City you could buy E85 fuel at 26-32% less than unleaded. The good news continues at the Lajar 1 Stop , Hill Petroleum in Arvada ,Greely Kum n Go, Farm Crest in Colorado Springs , the Tomahawk Truck Stop in Watkins, all across the State of Colorado E85 in the 20-25% price spread range. Other Western State
Oregon-18.6% , and California-11.8%, Nevada 12.5% had reasonable good E85 pricing but the State of Washington 7.0% , Utah 5% and New Mexico 8.6% continue to struggle with pricing
East E85
New York lead the East Coast States with price spread of 23.3% followed by Pennsylvania at 10.4% and Maryland 19.8%
South
The South tends to trail the Nation in E85 Price spreads and while this trend continued in August there were some nice price spreads including Tennessee coming in at 17.4% ,Kentucky 15.4% Florida 11.6% ,Georgia 11.1%
The consumer fully understands that they will get slightly less MPG with current FFV models (10-25%) while awaiting E85 optimized engines and will accept that loss of mpg as long as E85 is priced accordingly.
Stations working directly with their local Ethanol plant are able to get the best wholesale price and able to keep the best prices at the pump.

E85 prices are expected to fall 15-25 cents per gallon in Sept. Expect the National Average Price Spread 17%-20% range.
An added bonus for consumers switching to E85 is that not only does the fuel burn cleaner than unleaded, but e85 is 105 octane which increases
horsepower. There are over 1600 stations carrying E85 in the US and more stations coming on line everyday.
