I've got something else to say about Wired, and I don't see anything about it here. If you have any questions, comments, or complaints about Wired the paper magazine - not the website - then this is the place to send them.

Why aren't your forms secure? Ah, but they are. What we don't do is encrypt the blank forms. There's no need. Your browser sees that it will be submitting the form to a secure server and encrypts what you've typed before sending it to our secure server. (Netscape provides this handy illustration of the process if you're curious.) Of course, if you don't believe that, all you have to do is change "http://www.wired.com" in the URL of any form to "https://www.hotwired.com" and you'll have an encrypted blank form.

I tried to use a secure form with Internet Explorer, but I got an error and only part of the page - what do I do? This is a bug in IE4, and so far as we have heard, IE5 as well. On a Mac, the only real workaround is to use a different browser. On Windows or NT, one thing you can try is to go into the "Internet Options" screen (under the "View" menu item), then to the "Advanced" tab. Look for the section named "HTTP 1/1", and make sure that the two checkboxes under it are unchecked. If they are checked, uncheck them, click on the 'Save' button, and then restart your computer.

I tried to use a form on your Web site and it didn't work. That's the kind of problem we want to hear about right away. Send us mail and please tell us the URL of the form you were trying to use and something about what went wrong. Thanks!
