Why doesn't Oracle Fusion General Ledger (GL) store supplier or customer details? At first, I wondered why the General Ledger doesn't contain supplier or customer information. The answer is actually quite simple. Supplier details belong to Accounts Payable (AP), and customer details belong to Accounts Receivable (AR). These modules manage the business transactions. The role of General Ledger (GL) is different. It focuses only on the financial impact of those transactions by storing the accounting entries (debits and credits). This approach has several benefits: - Avoids duplicate data. - Keeps the General Ledger clean and efficient. - Makes financial reporting faster and more reliable. - Allows users to drill down from a GL journal to the original AP or AR transaction whenever more details are needed.
