Limits are enforced by plan tier: - **Free users** who exceed 3 notebooks can view but not edit or create beyond that limit until they upgrade. - **AI features** (Q\&A, Quiz generator) on the Free plan are capped at 5 uses/month; further usage requires upgrading to Essential or higher. - **AI Pass** provides approximately 12x more AI credits per month compared to the base plan. - There are no pay-as-you-go overage charges; users must upgrade to the next plan tier or add AI Pass. --- ## Billing - **All plans are billed annually.** There is no monthly billing option for base plans. - **AI Pass** is the only monthly charge: \+$10/month, billed separately. - **Free trial**: Essential and Pro both include a **7-day free trial** (auto-renewing, except in Korea). Teams includes a **30-day free trial**. - **Billing platform**: Subscriptions on iOS/macOS are managed via the Apple App Store. Android/Windows/Web subscriptions are managed via Google Play or the relevant platform store. --- ## FAQ **Q: What's the difference between Essential and Pro?** The main differences are collaboration depth and AI capabilities. Pro adds real-time collaboration, private link sharing, Google Drive integration, Meeting AI (cloud transcription, live summaries, calendar integration), and Create Mode. Essential is suited to solo users; Pro is for anyone who regularly works with others or attends meetings. **Q: Can I use Goodnotes on multiple devices / platforms?** Cross-platform sync (iOS, macOS, Android, Windows, Web) requires Essential or higher. The legacy Special Edition (one-time purchase) is Apple-only and uses iCloud sync. Free plan does not include cross-platform sync. **Q: What happens to my notes if I downgrade or cancel?** Notes are not deleted. If you drop to Free and have more than 3 notebooks, notebooks above the limit become read-only. You can choose which 3 to keep editable. All other content remains viewable. **Q: What is AI Pass and who needs it?** AI Pass is a $10/month add-on that unlocks all AI features and \~12x more monthly AI credits. It's useful for users on Essential who want Pro-level AI without upgrading their base plan, or for Pro/Teams users who hit AI usage limits.
