Our iPad app has been updated with Liquid Glass for iPadOS 26. This includes the option to use a sidebar instead of the top menu.

Linear Gradient Presets in widgets

The widget editor now offers Gradient Presets for linear backgrounds, allowing you to quickly set the direction of the gradient (Top to Bottom, Right to Left, etc.).

Triggering notification actions

You can now trigger any of the attached actions when viewing a logged notification, and this page has been updated for liquid glass.

Vision Pro in Devices List

• The Devices List now recognises Vision Pro and will show an appropriate icon.

Fixes

• The search button no longer appears twice when viewing the notifications list on iPad.
• The HomeKit Gold icon now displays correctly in dark mode.

When you add items into rows and columns in a widget you see your design forming, but when you're changing things around—perhaps adding new information, or just making things prettier it's nice to be able to just tap and hold and then move your components to tweak things, like re-order text!

Whilst we were looking at widgets we also added support to run integrations through a widget. So now you can tap on a widget to run something through IFTTT, Make.com, or Zapier.

We've also brought Sign in with Apple support to Pushcut. From the Account tab in Pushcut, open the Settings (... in the top left corner) and voilà you can Sign in with Apple! We've spent a lot of time working on other things under the hood as well—so you'll see why this is important very soon!

In this release we focused on solving some frequent requests related to Notifications, Shortcuts and your Automation Server.

First of all, we've added threading to notifications. If you ever send multiple notifications about the same topic but don't want a whole stack of them piling up or to replace your notifications, then this is for you. Threaded messages get grouped together—and because you set the Thread ID (threadId in the API) you can use this across different notifications, or even use one Pushcut notification (with different data) and multiple Thread IDs—e.g. one per project! We've updated the Show and Send Notification shortcuts actions, as well as the Webhook for notifications to support setting this.

We also added a brand new Shortcuts action: Find Automation Server Requests. If you have an Automation Server and would like to be able to send yourself notification updates as to how the last 5 requests were processed, or create a widget to show you what is going on, you now can! Similarly, if one of your automations depends on a service which is unreliable, you can schedule the automation to run more frequently, and check at the start of it if it was recently successful—and then stop the shortcut.

We've also updated the Find Devices shortcuts action to support filtering for the type of device, as well as if the device is a connected automation server (in addition to if the device is an automation server—even if it is currently offline). Watch this space to find out why this is coming! 😉

This month the focus has been on improving Pushcut's integrations via the API and services that use it!

We have improved the set widget support everywhere. We previously added support for setting the on tap action via the API, and this now supports setting the input for a Shortcut as well. We were also able to roll this support out to IFTTT as well as in the Shortcuts action, and through the API.

We've also added a new guide which demonstrates how you can use the shortcut input with a widget.

This feature was much requested by folks who are building custom dashboards on their device home screens, and wanting to avoid having to create one shortcut for every widget and modify it regularly. Now you can change what a widget is based around with a dynamic shortcut!

We've also spent some time improving our widget previews: You can now set a "placeholder" for inputs or show the content from your latest widget update!

When you add images to Pushcut, for use in your notifications or widgets, you can now take pictures from the camera as well as adding pictures from your camera roll or from files. Don't forget, there's also a Shortcuts action to upload images as well!

The option to run shortcuts from your widget has been souped up, you can now choose to run it on your automation server instead of your local device, and you can provide input to the Shortcut as well—allowing you to run different actions or even do a more complex workflow if you choose. We also made it possible to run a HomeKit Scene so you have even more options! Check out what you can do when you tap on a widget.

When it comes to widget content design there's even more power available now. At the bottom of the widget content editor you can now see which widgets are using this design. You can now duplicate a row or a column by tapping and holding on it in the design list. And finally, we've added some logos for popular social media platforms to the available symbols.

The Shortcuts action for find devices will now let you filter for or exclude your automation server, so you can easily find it or exclude it from your devices (for example to send notifications to all your devices except your automation server).

While we're talking about the automation server, we added a setting to show you the current time on the server display, and failed actions can be retried with a single tap.

Finally we added a small tweak for those of you with multiple IFTTT/Zapier/Make accounts—those integrations can be renamed so you'll know which one is your work account vs your personal account!

We have a list of additional integration we would like to add, but first out of the gate is one of the most common requests: Widget Support.

Whether you want a widget showing you the next Formula 1 race, a random quote, or your favourite team's latest score, being able to update your widgets across your devices whenever you like adds even more power and flexibility to your automations.

While thinking about updating your widgets, we added an action that lets you specify a URL to open when you tap your widget. Have a widget that lists your next class or conference session? Why not have your widget take you straight to the notes for the next event?

We've also added a support page for IFTTT which links you to our guides and details the triggers and actions available to you in IFTTT. And a final improvement: We made the list of Shortcuts you can run on your automation server a list so you no longer have to remember and type the exact name of the Shortcut to get the ball rolling!

Now you can swipe from the left on a server schedule to enable or disable it, but also use the new Shortcuts actions to Find Server Schedules (which lets you filter them), and also to Enable or Disable Server Schedules. We had to make this easy to use without making you rename all of your Shortcuts or HomeKit actions—so we added Notes to server schedules!

The notes are just a text field, so you can write anything you like—you could write a reminder to yourself for why a Shortcut or HomeKit action is enabled—or take it up a nerd level and use it as a tag list. Write #work for your work related automations, or #halloween for a spooky seasonal HomeKit (or Shortcuts related) scheduled actions. You can filter using these notes in Shortcuts. So for example, if you write a Shortcut to help you prepare for a vacation from work, when you run it, it can find all of your Server Schedules where the note contains #work, and disable them—and the reverse when you come back! You could even schedule a Shortcut to run to do exactly that for the day you go on vacation and the day you come back.

We also took the opportunity to add some icons into the server schedules to let you know what kind of action you have, and if there's a note there.

And last—but not least, we also upgraded the Find Device Shortcuts action to allow you to exclude things like your custom device names from your filter.

If you want to schedule a notification through HomeKit, for example to remind you if the garage door has been open for 10 minutes, you can do that in the API (so with the Get Contents of URL in Shortcuts, which is available in Home automations you have converted to a Shortcut), as well as with the Send Notification Shortcuts action!

The Cancel Notification Shortcuts action will now let you cancel or remove notifications on any device, and there is a matching API call you can make with a DELETE to /submittedNotifications/{notificationId}.

Did you know that images you upload for Widgets and Notifications are shared? We added images to the Account tab so you can easily get to them without editing a notification or a widget. We've also taken the opportunity to add support for uploading them from Photos as well as Files or taking a picture with the Camera.

You can now duplicate a notification in Pushcut through the context menu (tap and hold). This is ideal when you have a notification configured with all of your local triggers, (default) actions, and more. Duplicating a notification takes you straight into editing the copy, so you can make any changes you want!

Speaking of locations, did you know there's a location list? You can see all of your locations through Triggers > (top left) > Locations. Now you can easily see what kind of location it is with icons to represent iBeacons and geographic locations.

While we're talking about notifications, we added the ability to update a notification! In 2022.9 Shortcuts actions for Send Notification and Show Notification were upgraded to output the details of a notification—so you can save all the details you might want/need (though the Reminder Identifier is the important one here), and then use the same Shortcuts action again later to update (or the Cancel Notification action to remove it).

The Find Devices Shortcuts action now supports filtering for your current device (or excluding it from the results). This is ideal for making sure you don't have a notification pop up on your current device—such as your automation server.

Running actions on your automation is one of our favourite Pushcut features—and from what we've heard from you all it is too! If you restart your Automation Server (such as after an iOS update) you may have to wait for a while for your regularly scheduled actions to run. So there's a brand new option on server actions allowing you to trigger the action when your server starts as well as on a regular schedule.

And the final feature we've added this release is the ability to provide input to a Shortcut or Server Action from a notification. This is perfect for notifications that you trigger as part of a shortcut or online automation and want to pass data on to the next step.

If you want to trigger a Pushcut notification automatically when a Focus Mode starts, then we hope you'll like this update! You can now take advantage of Focus Mode Filters with Pushcut—and that includes a brand new Shortcuts action, so you can "save" your settings to re-use across different devices (especially handy if you like to wipe your device and set them up fresh every year).

Speaking of Shortcuts actions we added a few more, which might peak your interest:

• Find Devices: Provides a list of your Pushcut devices, this can be used as input for the notifications actions.
• Create Server Schedule: Add a new repeating scheduled job to your Automation Server.

And we also upated the Show Notification action to output a notification which can be used as input to other actions in Shortcuts.

If you've ever wanted to schedule actions on your automation server at intervals based on hours or days, we've added further options for those. We also improved the Server Status Notifications by adding the option to make these time sensitive.

In this release we also added a new Quick Action to monitor your automation server, and you can re-order these now too—so a long press on Pushcut on your Home Screen can be customized to suit your needs. There are more symbols to choose from to customize your widgets, and we also snuck in the ability to copy a webhook when you tap on it.
