EDUCATION RESEARCH ALLIANCE FOR NEW ORLEANS EXPLORES THE POST-KATRINA SCHOOL REFORMS’ LONG-TERM EFFECTS

In "What Effect Did the New Orleans School Reforms Have on Student Achievement, High School Graduation, and College Outcomes?", Douglas N. Harris and Matthew F. Larsen examine how the post-Katrina school reforms in New Orleans have impacted student outcomes, finding significant improvements in all outcomes.

PHILADELPHIA EDUCATION RESEARCH CONSORTIUM STUDIES TRANSITION TO HIGH SCHOOL AND EARLY LITERACY

In “Ready from the Start: Identifying and Supporting At-Risk Ninth Graders
from their Earliest Days in High School,” Austin Slaughter, Ruth Curran Neild, and Molly Crofton look at eighth-grade predictors of ninth-grade outcomes, finding that eighth-grade core-subject GPA was the best predictor of ninth-grade on-track status.

In “Supporting Early Readers: A Scan of K-3 Literacy Practices in Philadelphia Charter Schools,” Rachel Comly, Ryan Fink, Monica Mielke, and Adrianne Flack examine how Philadelphia’s charter schools approach literacy programming in kindergarten through third grade. The study was conducted in collaboration with the Consortium for Policy Research in Education.
