MADISON EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP EXAMINES INTERPERSONAL SKILLS, HOMELESSNESS SUPPORTS, AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT IN FOUR-YEAR-OLD KINDERGARTEN

In three executive summaries, researchers supported by the Madison Education Partnership (MEP) investigate issues of policy and practice in the Madison Metropolitan School District’s four-year-old kindergarten program (MEP supported researchers are supported through competitive research grants by MEP and conduct research that is topically aligned with MEP directed, or internally produced, research).

In "Understanding, Measuring, & Assessing the Development of Interpersonal Skills in 4K,” Kristin Shutts and Charles Kalish look at how teachers think about and assess children’s social skills in 4K.

In "MMSD 4K: Pathways to Resilience for Children and Families Experiencing Homelessness,” Travis Wright, Amy Taub, Anna Fetter, and Jeremy Shumpert examine how the district’s 4K program supports its students and their families experiencing homelessness.

In "
Family Engagement in MMSD’s 4K Program: Implications for Children’s School Readiness,” Alejandra Ros Pilarz and Ying-Chun Lin investigate family engagement efforts and how they impact children’s attendance and school readiness.
