NNERPP WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS

We are excited to introduce two new members!

The Partnership for Early Education Research (PEER) is a partnership among early childhood stakeholders in Connecticut, including the Yale School of Medicine, Cooperative Educational Services, Education Development Center, the Connecticut State Department of Education, the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood, and the communities of Bridgeport, Norwalk, and Stamford.

The Wisconsin Educator Effectiveness Research Partnership is a partnership between the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, the Socially Responsible Evaluation in Education center at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and the Wisconsin Evaluation Collaborative at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Welcome to NNERPP!

RESEARCH ALLIANCE FOR NEW YORK CITY SCHOOLS EXPLORES PERSISTING STUDENTS

In “Persisting Students: Exploring the Pathways and Outcomes of Students Who Don't Graduate in Four Years, But Remain Enrolled in NYC High Schools,” Kathryn Hill and Zitsi Mirakhur examine who persisting high school students are, how they fall behind, and what strategies and supports might help them succeed.

PHILADELPHIA EDUCATION RESEARCH CONSORTIUM STUDIES NINTH GRADE ON-TRACK RATES

In “Getting on Track to Graduation: Ninth Graders’ Credit Accumulation in the School District of Philadelphia, 2014-2016,” Molly Crofton and Ruth Curran Neild look at on-track rates of ninth graders in the School District of Philadelphia, the characteristics of on-track and off-track students, and how on-track rates differ across high schools.

TENNESSEE EDUCATION RESEARCH ALLIANCE EXAMINES SCHOOL TURNAROUND EFFORTS

In “School Turnaround After Five Years: An Extended Evaluation of Tennessee’s Achievement School District and Local Innovation Zones,” Lam Pham, Gary T. Henry, and Ron Zimmer explore the effects of the two largest school turnaround efforts in Tennessee after five years.

"What Works vs. What We Can Evaluate": Nora Gordon argues that ESSA’s evidence requirements pose a risk of school leaders choosing programs that are easier to evaluate over more effective approaches that are harder to evaluate.

"Black Teachers Wanted": In this latest episode of the Scholars Strategy Network’s No Jargon podcast, Michèle Foster talks about how America lost many of its black teachers, what that means for students today, and what can be done to change things.
