Image iDeal is an MX Linux-based distribution, with various privacy and security settings enabled by default. Privacy and security are the main stated goal of the project, offering to surf, shop, trade and bank online with peace of mind, without advertisements, tracking, logging, bugs, viruses or unwanted disclosure of personal information. iDeal OS was formerly available in two editions, "Emerald" and "Diamond", but these were merged into a single product in 2026, with the extra features of the "Diamond" edition now only available to users who contribute financially to the project.

 Linux tip: If you can't find an application in the launcher but you when you do a search, it there!
After finding it using search, just add it to the favorites and you won't have to search it again.
Maybe this will get fixed in the next update The app used is DOSBOX.

I do video editing as a hobby so all the programs used available. VolkoscreenNG, and Kdenlive were available for install.
OBS Studio already installed. The toolbar opacity is not adjustable. May be due to limits of my GPU, I'm not sure. Have and older RTX 1020. This distro looks great. I have the Diamond edition. Advantage of this paid version over others like Zorin is that it is lifetime for ALL updates. With Zorin, you only get the paid version that is current at the time of purchase. When they go to a new version, you have to repay, or revert back to the free version, accept less desktop layout options, and install the needed software yourself. iDealOS very underated in my opinion.

 Pros:

It works...
Nice idea even if not realized

Cons:

It is a bloated RAM pig - far heavier then MX - and for what?

Next - a whole lot of hype with minimal substance - while a secure DNS Protects your DNS lookups from being exposed to the local network/ISP and can optionally block malicious domains you can easily add that to any debian/ubuntu distro. This is certainly not worth a new distro over.

Want better security use Brave's Tor feature instead of Firefox.

Ideal sounds nice but delivers little but bloat and hype

 It is reasonable good and not bad, I also tried 4.2 . Replacing Firefox is a very bad idea, add other browsers to compare and find out what suits you the best . A ++ for the installer : installs linux on SDxy and grub on pbr (or /)
