Aaron Podolefsky
Aaron Podolefsky served as dean of the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences from 1990 to 1998, leading the college through a period of academic growth and development. An anthropologist and sociologist, Podolefsky championed strong academic programs, faculty scholarship and interdisciplinary collaboration while fostering a collegial, student-centered culture. His thoughtful leadership and commitment to academic excellence earned the university's confidence, and in 1998 he was appointed provost and vice president for academic affairs at the University of Northern Iowa. Podolefsky later went on to serve as president of the University of Central Missouri and Buffalo State University, where he became known for his collaborative leadership, dedication to public higher education and commitment to student success. His years at UNI helped strengthen the college while preparing him for a distinguished career in higher education leadership.
