Researchers Can Help Answer Right Now": Sara Kerr and Paige Kowalski outline five pressing questions state leaders are asking and call for education researchers and state and local education leaders to coordinate with each other so these and similar questions can be answered quickly.
 

"What Will It Take to Stabilize Schools in the Time of COVID-19?": Michael Griffith examines how falling state revenues and the unprecedented needs posed by the pandemic will affect public education budgets. 
 

"State Actions to Support Social, Emotional, and Academic Development: Fostering Connectedness in The Pandemic Era": This report proposes ten actions state education leaders can take to foster social and emotional development and school connectedness.

The Call for Submissions for the 2021 American Educational Research Association (AERA) Annual Meeting is now open!

Submissions deadline:
Submissions are due July 22, 11:59 pm PDT.
AERA accepts two types of submission: an individual paper and a session submission.

Location and Theme:
The 2021 AERA Annual Meeting will be held April 9-12 in Orlando, Florida, under the theme “Accepting Educational Responsibility.”

Topic:  
Leaders of the
Oregon Department of Education/Oregon State University English Language Learner Partnership will share findings from three policy briefs focused on understanding multilingual students’ experiences in Oregon schools, including the insights Oregon has gained from analyzing data about current, former, ever, and never English Learners; findings about ELs’ access to core content courses in high school; and research about family engagement for ELs with disabilities. The presenters will discuss how findings have impacted policy and practice and reflect on action steps needed, including implications for supporting ELs during and after the current pandemic. NNERPP aims to develop and support RPPs in education in order to improve the connection between research, policy, and practice.
