What we love: The terrifying tension. Cinematic scenes propel the story with heaps of atmospheric dread... and the occasional jump scare. Even something as simple as making Holly a mug of warm milk had us hiding behind our hands, anticipating the next spooky surprise.

Quick tip: To fool the facial-recognition lock in the high school, build a likeness of the head custodian on the anatomy mannequin. Use yarn for the hair (trimmed with the scissors), the Santa Claus beard, brown spray paint to dye the hair and beard and a pair of eyeglasses to top it off.
